Pension letter states on 04 Sep 1832 that his age was 75 (copy of
the letter in the possession of Jay R. Montgomery). General AccountingOffice
certificate #7779 lists information on death and children. This cert. was
dated 21 May 1942. Estate Records, Box 213, Lincoln Co Court House.
He was called "Black-Headed Billy" to distinguish him from theother
"William's". He married his cousin Elizabeth Montgomery. He was willed land
in Washington County, Virginia by his father, John. William fought in the
Revolutionary War.
