Notes:

He was a farmer most of his life. At one point he homesteaded a farm in
Southeastern New Mexico outside Hobbs, New Mexico towards Monument, New
Mexico near where the Phillips Petroleum Plant is now located, but the
land was so dry that he gave up before completing the homestead period,
and moved back to Lamesa, Texas. Unfortunately for him, oil was later
discovered on that farm land. Although he had no interest in the land,
the oil lease is known as the "Jack lease." Later in life he owned a
shoe repair business in Kermit, Texas.

Buried in Kermit, Winkler County, Texas

Attended Methodist Church for years, then began attending a local
Assembly of God Church.

Moved from Kentucky to Texas after his father had completed the move out
west. On the way to Texas his children Orpha and Oliver died with
Scarlett Fever. They were buried on the way. Sometime after he got to
Oklahoma his wife, Emily, died. She was reportedly an excellent cook.

One family source indicates that he died in Comanche, Stephens County,
Oklahoma; another indicates Comanche County, Oklahoma.

W.T. Montgomery left Kentucky, after his father "Joseph" died, for Texas.
On the way he buried Orpha and Oliver, who died with Scarlet Fever. In
Comanche, Territory of Oklahoma he buried his wife, Emily, who was known
to be a very good cook.
