    Funeral services for Fred Leon Wagley will be held Wednesday, August 7,at 10 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. BishopRobert Ault will officiate. Burial, under the direction of the WarrenMeadows Funeral Home, will follow in the Many Cemetery. Pallbearers willbe Jeff Methvin, Brent Methvin, Clay Methvin, Andy Methvin, Nile Wagley,Mike Wagley, Nathan Wagley, and Chris Wagley. Members of the Many LionsClub will serve as honorary pallbearers.

    Mr. Wagley died at IHS-North in Many on Friday, August 2.

    He was born in Sabine Parish on Sept. 27, 1909, to Alexander ColemanWagley, and Cora Belle Miller Wagley. He married Lee Slayon May 3, 1932,and together they raised their family in Many.

    He was self employed in the restaurant business, operating the DairyDelight in Many for a number of years. He was a member of the LDS Church,and an active member of the Many Lions Club.

    Survivors include his widow; a daughter, Nancy Methvin and husband Jackof Lincolnville, Kansas; a son, James Wagley and wife Gena of Many; ninegrandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews,and friends.

    15 May 1942 - Last rites for William A. (Uncle Dutch) Slay, age 75 years,were held Wednesday at three o'clock at Pleasant Hill, ward two, Rev. C.W. Williams and Rev. R. T. Pynes of Many, Rev. W. J. Ross of PleasantHill and Rev. J. F. Laurence of Oakdale officiating, interment PleasantHill cemetery, Dennis-Green funeral home directing. Pallbearers were: J.B. Vandegaer, Elden Dees, Jeff Spier, Milton Belisle, Edd Lee and CliftonMassingill. Honorary pallbearers were: Louis Pynes, Dan Pynes, E. M.Fraser, H. T. Calloway, Robert Jackson, William Laurence and Ed Salter.

    Surviving are wife, Mrs. Martha Elizabeth Slay, and eleven children; ninedaughters, Mrs. Ella Murphy of Hornbeck, Mrs. Mable Vidler of Shreveport,Mrs. Bertha Salter of Zwolle, Mrs. Carrie Westbrook of Florien, Mrs.Linda Pynes of Smackover, Ark., Mrs. Maude Thedford, Mrs. Allie Sirmon,Mrs. Lee Wagley and Mrs. Louise Wagley all of Many; two sons, D.     Mr. Slay, or (Uncle Dutch) as he was known to his many friends, had beenin ill health for a long period, being confined to the bed for the pastfour months, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Allie Sirmon,at 10:35 Tuesday morning.

    Mr. Slay was from the sturdy pioneer type, always having in mind thebetterment of community and parish. He was active in civic and politicalmatters, was a member of the parish democratic
    committee for several years and a member of the board of supervisors ofelections at the time of his death.

    William married Martha Elizabeth Nettles.
