Last rites for Furman I. Dowden of Lake Charles, age 52, who died Jan. 1,in St. Patrick's Hospital, were conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 2, atMt. Carmel Baptist Church, with Rev. Earl Marr, Rev. Ralph Stephens, andRev. H. H. Tibbitts officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery,under the direction of
Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.

Pallbearers were nephews, Tommie Ray, Johnnie Mc, and Lynn CharlesDowden, Ronnie Ferris, Mike, and Jerry Arthur, Glen Scruggs, and afriend, Jerry Barnhill.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Mavis Dowden, Lake Charles; four sons, BobbyFlody, Baton Rouge, SSgt. Sammy Lane, Lake Charles, Pfc. Dawson Ivy,Condon, Oregon, Vandy Dowden, Lake Charles; one
daughter, Elizabeth, Lake Charles; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dawson Dowden,Lake Charles; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dawson Dowden, Many, Rt. 2; onebrother, T. C. Dowden, Hornbeck; five sisters, Mrs.
Florien Arthur, and Mrs. Eva Stoker, Many, Rt. 2, Mrs. Ulma Yeldell, LakeCharles, Mrs. Ed Scruggs, Minden, Mrs. Kalil Ferris, Bossier City; andfour grandchildren.

He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church of Lake Charles, a formerschool teacher, he had been employed for the past 10 years as alaboratory technician at Borden's, Lake Charles.

D. A. Dowden, 81, died in Many, Friday, Feb. 5.

Funeral services were held Sunday, in the Toro Baptist Church, at 2 p.m.,with the Rev. Ralph Stevens, and A. J. Tibbitts officiating. Burial wasin the Toro Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Homeof Many.

He is survived by one son, T. C. Dowden of Hornbeck; five daughters, Mrs.Florien Arthur of Many, Mrs. E. T. Stoker of Robeline, Mrs. Ulma Yeldellof Lake Charles, Mrs. Ed Scruggs of Minden, Mrs. Kaill Ferris of BossierCity; one brother, Clyde Dowden of Florien; and a sister, Mrs. DellaCorley of Florien; 23
grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.
