  Sir John III succeeded his father about 1285. He was among the great Barons summoned by Edward I to meet him at Norham Castle. In 1296 he swore fealty to the King of England, but after the cruelties committed by the English he joined the party of Bruce. 8th Baron of Eaglesham "Origin and History of the Montgomerys" by B.G.
