    • REF: ORIGINS AND HISTORY OF THE MONTGOMERYS by B. G. de Montgomery pub. 1970.

      Alexander later known as Greysteel, was served as heir to the Earldom of Eglinton on 20 October, 1612. This ursurption was opposed by King James VI and Privy Council, but after negotiation, the King confirmed the transfer of the Earldon of Eglinton from Montgomerys to Setons by Charter dated 24th March 1615.
