Notes |
- His baptismal sponsors were Pat Sheridan and Anne Bradley.
John was a Carriage Maker in Ireland and in the US. He had his own business. He also worked as a bootmaker when he first arrived in Milford to get money to start his business. We think his father, Owen, also worked in the business as a wheelwright. The business was located on Central. They also lived on Central.
There is no record of his marriage to Anna Mc Avenna in Milford, Town or Church records. There are records of his 2nd marriage, both church and civil. The third marriage is also a mystery. John had only 5 children, all by his first wife, Anna Mc Avenna.
*On John's burial record "Ellen Bradley" (wife #3) was the last recorded owner of the cemerty plot in the Catholic Cemetery. She passed away in 1934.
Cause of death on his death certificate was Congestive Asthma. The Physician's Certificate states he attended John from June 14, 1907 to June 17, 1907 a period of three days, and the cause of death was Bronchial Asthma. The Undertaker was J.B. Edwards of Milford.
John and a number of his children as well as other Bradley members, who lived in Milford, died of Consumption or Asthma of some kind. We did some research because of the asthma and allergies present in the children and grand children of Louise Bradley Montgomery. This is what we found: CONSUMPTION - A wasting away of the body, especially Phthisis or pulmonary tuberculosis. - PHTHISIC- Affected with phthisis, a popular name for Asthma. - PHTHISIS -A disease marked by progressive wasting or emaciation of the body, obstinate cough, with the expectoration of opaque matter and sometimes blood, loss of strength, hectic fever, nigth sweats and diarrhea. Caused by the presence of the TUBERCULE BACILLUS in the lungs.
An interesting bit of information is, in those days, the wife's name was not used on the Death Returne, even if they were married or divorced. We do not know why. This was given o us by the Town Clerk's Office.
The Bradley Family Plot in The Catholic Cemetery is Lot #10, Section B, Division D. Ellen Bradley was the last recorded owner of the plot and she died 15 Mar. 1934. She lived at 19 Spring St., Milford, MA.
