  • Notes
    • We think her name is Marthaw. The baptismal record is in Latin and her name on that record is Martha, also Marthaw, Margaret Bradley. Her baptismal sponsors were Jacob and Margaret Bradley.

Her birth record showes she was born, Margaret Louisa Bradley, on 24 Oct. 1853 in Medway, Mass. If she was born on that date and she was baptised on 7 June 1856 it was 2 years, 7 mos and 13 days from her birth to her baptism. She would have been 20 years, 6 mos, and21 days at her death, not 20 yrs, 6 mos, as shown on the church death records.

We have a birth certificte from Medway, Mass., not far from Milford showing she was born on 24 Oct.1853 in that city. It showes her name as Mardaret Louise Bradley, with the same parents. John, her father, was a Bootmaker and born in Ireland. Anna Mc Avenna, her mother, was born in Scotland.

      Her nick-name was "Maggie".

      She died of Consumption.

She was the only child of John that was not born in Milford. Why she was born in Medway, lived in Milford and died in Grafton is a mystry. We think there was something wrong with her before birth or at birth. We think this because of the long period of time between birth and baptism and the Town Clerk of Grafton was kind enough to tell us that Grafton State Hospital was located in Grafton till it closed in the late 1970's.

This is a lead we need to follow up on.
