  Notes from RIN 10484, Submitter Unknown: !Robert remained at Eglinton, the ancestral estate all his life. The British army encamped on Montgomery Hill before the battle of Monmouth, 28 June 1778. The house long exhibited the cannon ball fired at it by the British from Montgomery Hill. The estate suffered severely. Inventory of personal property destroyed was L249.10 and real estate L1000. He was taken prisoner by the British, but was released as a non-combattant since he was a Quaker.
