Charles Wesley Montgomery never saw his father John Montgomery. He was born after his father enlisted in Co D l4th IN Vol Infantry for service in the Civil War. His father died in an Army Camp near Vicksburg, Miss. on July 29,1863. Charles married Mattie Perkins Dec. 7 l882 at Washington, IN. First they lived at Cornettsville, IN. They moved to Logansport, IN in 1883. Moved to Buffington, MO in 1886. Moved to Kiowa, OK in 1889 in what was known as Indian Territory and Old Oklahoma. They made the "run" in the Cherokee Strip in 1893 and located at Orland, Okla. They were among the early pioneers of the Southwest. Moved to McAlester, OK about l897. Lived at Rt. 2, North, McAlester,OK for many years.
