  • Notes 
    • David Montgomery married in Toronto and had children with first wife, Mary Potts. It is not known if he got a divorce or if he was free to mary Mary Haehnel who was quite a bit younger than he. Edward, their first child was born in 1881 in Chicago so they must have lived together as man & wife at least prior to that time. He often told his children that they came from a very proud and distinguished family but he never disclosed that he had another family in Canada according to Uncle Dick who first discovered it on visit with Aunt Jerusha in 1930's. Most of what we know of the Montgomery families in Canada we learned about through Richard A. Montgomery and Aunt Rose making trips and visiting with Aunt Jerusha.
