    • Alexander Montgomery IV, Richard & Hannah (Smith) Montgomery's second son, and third born of their 123 children was a carriage maker who married Mary Anne Peeler, the daughter of Joseph Peelar who were also U.E. Loyalists and settled west of the Hooton in 1800. Mary Ann Hotton, the great grandmother of Mary Anne Montgomery was drowned while crossing the river on horseback. Her grandmother lived to be 84 years old. She had a narrow escape from being shot during the Battle of York in 1812, while walking across Blorr Street with her son, then an infant in her arms.
