Notes - Archibald Gilbert MONTGOMERY b. 1799 moved left Middlebury in 1826 to live in New York city where he married Mary D. Raynold and had a large family. The descendants are said to be spread up and down the coast of the Eastern seaboard. Descending from Emma b. 1828, Archibald 1831, Eliza 1833, Francis L. 1836, Richard abt 1839, Moses P.C. abt 1842 & Mary Gilbert 1845.
Achibald Gilbert was most certainly given his first name to honor of his uncle, Archibald who was a Lake Captain and had served as a marine in the Revolutionary War. The second son must have been named for Hugh's younger brother David who was called "Frank", likely his second name was Francis. David's nickname, "Frank" is known through family history in Nancy High's family. It certainly ties the two brothers together in Middlebury area.
