  Youngest child of David "Frank" Montgomery was born about 1813 somewhere in Vermont. David, her father disappeared from family sometime around War of 1812. After Mary and Luke Woodbury Saunders married in Troy, N.Y. in 1830 they went out to Washington state where Luke was killed in the Whitman Massacre. Mary and her four daughters survived. Her second husband was George Washington Hughes whom she married in Nevada Co., CA in 1858. Hughes was from Indiana.
