  Actual birthdate as written by Laura is 1784, but that is an obvious error. Several Alexander Montgomerys in East TN at the same time. Efforts to link our Alexander to the Alexander of Sevier Co. are fruitless. An Alexander M. was issued a passport to enter the Cherokee Country(Tuckaleechee) in 1798, was a militia capt. in 1800, & owned $150 land in 1801. A P/A was filed in Blount Co Deed Book 1, p. 378 in 1816, originally dated 1812, which empowers John Montgomery to sell land for Alex.
