  Nancy Pace's father was Richard Pace, a Baptist minister for 36 years. John Patton Montgomery and Sophia Steele Montgomery had a son that was married in Benton County, Alabama, by a Rev. Richard Pace. In the 1840 census for Benton County, we find that Richard Pace is a neighbor of William Montgomery, being listed on the line immediately proceeding William. We can assume that Samuel P. Montgomery and Nancy Pace met in Alabama. They wee neighbors before moving to Texas. Maybe this is why Samuel move to Walker County, Texas.
