"Know ye that the records of this office show that
ORIN MONTGOMERY
was enrolled as a Private in Company B, 23rd. Regimenmt Ohio Vol Infant. on the
2nd day of June 1861 at Camp Jackson, Ohio by Capt. Giddings.
And was mustered into the United States service as such for a period of three
years, on the 11th day of June 1862 at Camp Jackson, O. by Capt.Robins, U.S.A.
Mustering Office and that he re-enlisted in same organization and was mustered
for three years, Nov, 30,1863 at Charleston, W.Va.
Mustered out May 24th 1865

Mr. James Montgomery, Geneva, Ohio
Sir, I have to inform you of the death of ORRIN MONTGOMERY which occurred in
the Home Hospital at 8-50 o'clock, A.M. on this day inst. He will be buried
with military honors and services of Protestant Chaplin, in the National
Soldiers' Cemetery, Hampton, Va. on the 27th at 9-30 A.M. inst. and a neat
marble stone will be erected to his memory.
Respectfully, P.T. Woodfin, Governor -------------------------------------------------------------------- --------- Orrin and Levi Montgomery both served in Co. B 23rd Inf, at the same time, however, we do not know what their relationship was. Is it possible that theyn were brothers?
