- !BIRTH-MARRIAGE-DEATH: "Thomas Powell..." He was in the war of 1812 and
received land as a soldier. (Oglethorpe Co., Simmon's District, 4thCoweta Co.,
15 Dec 1834. Land acquired from Creek Indians by treaty concluded atIndian
Springs, on 12 Feb 1825 - 4th section of Coweta Co. "Land Grants" 1827 atstate
capitol in Atlanta. He was a farmer and a merchant and lived with hisfamily
in Sandy Cross, Oglethorpe, and later moved to a farm, later known asCollier
Place. About 1858 they moved to Harmony Grove (later - Commerce GA)where they
lived until death.
