Volunteers in Bedford County, VA, and marched with them as Captain toNorfolk,
VA and was attached to the 5th Regiment, Dec 1, 1813. In a letter now in
possession of the Jones family, Willie Jones writes to his father fromBedford
County, Sept 11, 1814, giving an account of the taking of Alexandria, VAby the
British and the burning of Madison House in Washington....About 1840 hemoved
to Gwinnett County and received a land grant from the Government for his
military services."
