"When Mr. L. M. Hoffman was writing his book, he and I were workingtogether
one afternoon, and we discussed Bostian Bess' name, and I suggested that
probably his name was a contraction of Sebastian. A short whileafterwards, I
found this Bostian family, and I think Bostian Bess' mother was a MissBostian,
and his name is Bostian Bess...Colonial records of NC, vol 4, Pg 1039, itis
stated that Bostian Bess filed petition for land April 17, 1750."
