Notes - !BIRTH-DEATH: From her son Edwin Montgomery.."was born..in the home of her
maternal grandfather, Frederick Adolphous Bigham (originally fromShresbury,
Mass.). She grew up in Waukegan, Ill & graduated from Lake ForestCollege,
Chicago, Ill. She and her mother, Alice Rebecca Brigham Horton, moved to
Jacksonville, FL in 1921, when her father was executive secretary of theSouth
Carolina Development Board (forerunner of the SC Chamber of Commerce).She
worked for the city of South Jacksonville. She had a beautiful sopranovoice
and trained under Madame Vars of New York City. Her father was HoraceEverette
Horton, an agricultural chemist. A graduate of Harvard University &Goettengen
University in Germany where he earned his doctorate. Her mother was agraduate
of the New England Conservatory of Music in organ. Edwin & Margaret(Peggy)
lived all of their lives in one home (the old manse) in Lake City,Florida."
