      "Alice Marie "Ree" Montgomery Childers died December 9, 2001. She was 79.

      She was a long time resident of Annapolis, MD and was very active in her community, especially the Anne Arundel Medical Center Auxiliary. Ree was an accomplished artist and was the co-owner of an interior design business for many years. She was a Red Cross volunteer, a vice president for the Chesapeake Appreciation Days and she was active with the Naval Academy's Garden Club, Chapel Guild and Woman's Club. She had a great interest in history and was a history researcher as well as a docent for the Historic Annapolis Foundation and other historic groups.

      She was born to Josephine and Blair Lee Montgomery in Washington, D.C. on July 7, 1922. She married Robert Burgess Childers in 1942. Mr. Childers was a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and was retired from the U.S. Navy. He died December 3, 2000. She and her husband had three children: Judylee Meade of Arnold, retired Navy Commander Robert Blair Childers of Caper St. Clair and Debra Ann Childers of Crownville. She is survived by her children, three grand-daughters and 2 great-granddaughters. She was laid to rest at her beloved Naval Academy.
