Montgomery, Sr., 93, of rural Kirkland, died Thursday, September21, 2000, at his home. He was born December 3, 1906 near Malta, IL, theson of Edward and Nettie (Applebee) Montgomery. He was married to MildredDarnell and then to Mildred Carter. He farmed in the Kirkland, Esmond,Malta areas all of his life. He belonged to the Northwest UnitedMethodist Church near Malta, and attended the Calvary Baptist Church inBelvidere. Formerly, he was a member of the Lions Club and servedfourteen years on the Hiawatha School Board. He also belonged to theDeKalb Co. Farm Bureau. He is survived by his wife, Mildred, of ruralKirkland; two sons, James E.
