Obituary in The Smyrna Times, Wednesday, October 24, 1894:
DEATH OF OUR OLDEST CITIZEN.
Mrs. Elizabeth Dady, widow of Adam Dady, died at the home of her
daughter, Mrs Geo. W. Taylor, on Saturday aged 91 years, 14 days. Her
maiden name was Zebley, coming with her husband to Smyrna, from
Brandywine, fifty or sixty years ago. Though at the time of her death
the oldest person in the town, the unusual longevity was in no sense a
result of exemption from the afflictions incident to life, though it
might be said to be from its care and worries, for she was possessed of
an unusually even, cheerful temperament.
She grew up in the old school Baptist faith, and was an examplar of
its simplicity and sincerity of life and habit, one of the cardinal
virtues being to do for others as well as herself. Thus was she living,
filling up the hours in the daily routine of life when she lost her
husband--some twenty-five years ago. Her daughters being grown up and
married she went to live with one of them, Mrs. Taylor, which continued
to be her home except the time they resided in Philadelphia, when she
lived with her daughter, Mrs. Eben Wright, in Kenton.
Twenty years ago or more she lost her sight, becoming totally
blind. Shortly after going to Mrs. Wright's, five or six years ago, she
missed her step and fell from the door, dislocating her hip, rendering
her unable to walk from that time on. Her final illness, which commenced
about three weeks ago was accompanied with considerable pain; she bore it
with the same uncomplaining fortitude, and rounded out a long full life
of appropriating faith. The remains were interred at Brynzion Baptist
church Monday afternoon, Elder E. Rittenhouse, officiating.
