  • Notes
    • The following obituary appeared in The Smyrna Times on Wednesday,
      November 16, 1881:

      DEATHS
BURROWS -- Near Kenton, November 11th, Mrs. Susan Burrows, widow of
the late William Burrows, aged 73 years.

In notes of Larry Johnson (taken from "Johnson Family History" by
Harry C. Johnson), it is stated that Susan Foreacres was born December
25, 1808, and further that she is interred at Bryn Zion Children's Lot.

On July 2, 1999, Trian Koutoufaris found a small sampler in a trunk in
the attic at 10 Carnoustie Road, Dover, Delaware. To our great delight,
it was a sampler wrought by Susan Foreacres in the year 1819.
      The wording is as follows:

JeSuS permit thy graciouS name to Stand
As the FirSt effort of an infant hand.
And whilSt her fingerS are this canvaff move
Engage her tender heart to Seek thy love
With thy dear children let her Shear a part
And write thy name thySelf upon her heart
