Notes - CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS MONTGOMERY, CALLED "KIP", WAS BORN CA.
1821. He died during the Civil War, in service, in Arkansas and was buried there. Coker states "Kip and his first wife Ruth separated and I've heard my grandmother say that when he left he took hald of the negroes with him and left Ruth the other half. He went to Arkansas...he raised another family there (by another woman). There was one of these children who wrote back up here and wanted to know about his father's children...he wound up around Arcadia or Pilot Knob, and kind of belonged to the family. He was a blacksmith. When Kip got killed in action Aunt Ruth took it hard and wanted to go down there to see the burying ground where he was buried,
course the grave was unmarked".
