  • Notes
    • Cassie Jane Montgomery was the youngest child, and the only daughter of Emmitt and Matilda (Sullivan) Montgomery. Cassie was born 26 December 1863 at Bounds (now Silva), Wayne County, Missouri. She died 5 February 1891 at Bounds, Missouri, buried Twidwell Cemetery, near Silva, Missouri. She was married at a very early age, 3 months before her 16th birthday, on 21 September 1879, to Allison Grey (Bud) Twidwell, son of William (Bill) and Gatsey Heath Twidwell. He was born 13 February 1858 in Wayne County, Missouri and died 16 January 1927 at North Little Rock, Arkansas. He is buried in the Twidwell Cemetery, Silva, Missouri.

Bud and Cassie had four daughters and one son. Cassied died 14 days after the son's birth. Her mother, Matilda called "Till" Montgomery, was staying with her at the time of her death.
Cassie requested that her Mother stay and keep the children together, in case of her death. This "Till" promised. It is also told that just before Cassie died she kept trying to say something which sounded to them as "James". So they named the son James Emmitt Twidwell.

After the death of Cassie, her mother stayed on and cared for the girls, and kept house. The infant son was taken by his Uncle and Aunt, John and Delana (Atnip) Twidwell. About five years later, Bud re-married, and the son was taken back home.
