I think we made your connection!!! I know it's a dead end for you, butnow you have more on that line.

Let me clarify that because I am historian for Bossier Parish, and I wasdoing research for Angola Prison on Charley Frazier, apparently baddestprisoner ever held at Angola. Charley Frazier was captured in BossierParish. Anyway, when I was telling people at the courthouse what I wasdoing and we got on the subject of the electric chair that Angola has ondisplay, one of my sources said, "Well Grady Jarratt from Haughton usedto go around the state and do all the executions at different parishes."That was years ago, and I recently looked on the internet and found thislittle bit and your posting.

FYI, the Louisiana electric chair traveled from 1935-1957. The chair wasthen made permanent at Angola.

So, other than that and the census readings, I dont' have much... yet.

      1920 Caddo Parish, Shreveport Louisiana
      Grady A. Jarratt, head, m, w, 29, m,Tx, Tx, TX, mechanic, automobile
Jennie Jarratt, wife, f, w, 29, m, La, La, La
Mattie Lee Jarratt, dau, f, w, 7, s, La, TX, La
      Vivian Leann Jarratt, dau, f, w, 3 1/2, s, La, TX, La

      1930 Caddo Parish, Shreveport, Louisiana
      Grady A. Jarratt, lodger, m, w, 42, d, Proprietor, Pool Hall

      1930 Harris County, Houston, Louisiana
Bra??g, Corral, head, m, w, 32, m, NY, NY, NY, bookeeper, Public Utility
      ? , Jennie B., wife, f, w, 40, m, La, La, La, stenographer,city government
Jarrett, Mattie Lee, dau, f, w, 16, s, La, TX, La,
      Jarrett, Vivian L. , dau, f, w, 13, s, La, Tx, La

They had apparently divorced and Jennie Garratt Bra??g, remarried andmoved to Houston in time for the 1930 census. I will try to get his obitfrom Shreveport papers, but Center, Texas where he died is about 75 milesaway, so they may not have carried it.

We do know that Grady Jarratt married Arrie Mae Teuton on Oct 18, 1933 inBossier Parish, Louisiana. On the marriage license Grady was a residentof Benton. His mothers name was Mattie Jarratt. Father is listed as JamesA. Garratt. Both deceased. Grady was 45. Arrie Mae Teuton lived inShreveport. Her mothers name was Sallie Lawson(supposed to be her maidenname), a resident of Texas. Father is listed as Dave Teuton, deceased.Arrie was 37 years old, Grady's former wife was listed as Jennie Bres?

Grady and Arrie must have gotten a divorce because Grady Jarrattremarried Arrie Mae Teuton Jarratt on May 7, 1946. The only change inthat license was that he listed Arrie as his former wife.

FYI, there is a William F. Jarrett buried in the Haughton Cemetery. Hewas born Jan 28, 1896 and died Aug 27, 1979. (I was told there was twoJarratt brothers??)
