IN MEMORIAM - GEORGE WASHINGTON LOCKWOOD
On April 5, 1924 the angel of death, slipped into the home of Mr. N.C.Lockwood and claimed for its victim, our beloved father, Mr. Geo. W.Lockwood, who was 70 years of age. He was in perfect health until hetook the measles about 2 weeks before he died. He was ill but a shortwhile and bore his suffering with patience. All was done for him thatloving hands could do, but God saw fit to call him home, The time hadcome for him to make his departure, his life's work in this old world wasended. He said he was ready to go that there was nothing in the way.
Father was converted in early life and united with the Baptist church 52years ago. He was united in marriage with Miss Mary Norsworthy. To thisunion were born 9 children. Mother and five children have preceded himto the Celestial city. Only four children left, 2 sons and 2 daughters, but a host of grandchildren and many other relatives and friends to mourntheir loss.
Let us, who are yet living down here in this old world prepare to meetour loved ones in glory. A few years ago we had a family reunion atfather's home, dear father being there, mother and our oldest sister werethere, whose faces cannot be seen in this world today and oh! What agrand time we all had together. We can never have such a reunion in thisworld again, but that reunion in the skies, God forbid that our familycircle shall be broken up there. May we all answer at the last roll callsaved through Jesus blood.
His remains were carried to Mt. Carmel cemetery to await the resurrectionmorn. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. G. C. Bailey.
We will miss you, dear father, in the future as on through life we go.But when our lives are ended as the setting of the sun, we will meet youyonder when our work on earth is done.
His daughter, Mrs. C. C. Knippers.
