      Elbert Lee Howell, 52, died on December 4, at Vowels Mill, after anextended illness.

      Funeral services were held on December 5, at 2 p.m., in the New CedrenBaptist Church, with the Rev. Bill Nassier officiating. Burial was in theBecky Murray Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Homeof Many.

      Survivors include his father, Charlie Howell of Vowels Mill; two sons,Jimmy and Roger Howell, both of Natchitoches; four brothers, Johnson, andJ. L. Howell of Vowels Mill, Jesse Howell of Houston, and Ernest Howellof Blooming, Tex.; four sisters, Mrs. Mae Parker, and Mrs. Bud Craig ofVowels Mill, Mrs. Joyce Howell, and Mrs. Bernice Chism of Houston, andthree grandchildren
