      The Rev. Monroe Roberts, 95, of Provencal, died Friday, Sept. 21, in aNatchitoches hospital, after a long illness.

      Services were held at 2 p.m., in Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home Chapelin Natchitoches, with the Rev. Troy Wheeler, and the Rev. Robert M.McGill Jr. officiating. Burial followed in Shady Grove Cemetery nearBellwood.

      Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Jane Roberts of Provencal; sixsons, Curtis Roberts of Smithville, Texas, Chester Roberts of Pineville,Truman Roberts, and Hershel Roberts, both of Baton Rouge, Sherman Robertsof LeCompte, and Billy Roberts of Natchitoches; three daughters, JewelEvans of Baton Rouge, Claudia Rashall of Shreveport, and Willie McGrathof Hurst, Texas; two sisters, Louise Hawthorne of Provencal, and JuliaKey of Mansfield; 20 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.
