Services for Mrs. Emma Byrd Oxley, 95, were held at 2 p.m., Monday,August 23, 1993, at Warren Meadows Funeral Home Chapel in Many.
She was born to Lafayette Washington and Martha Ann Hardin Byrd on March6, 1989. She entered into rest on Friday, August 20, 1993, at HuckabyHospital in Coushatta. She was a native of Sabine Parish, and resided inShreveport for over 50 years. She was formerly a member of SouthsideBaptist Church in Shreveport, and was very active in Sunday school,nursery, daycare, and many other church functions. She retired fromMorrison's Cafeteria, and also the YMCA Cafeteria. She was currently amember of
Southside Baptist Church in Mansfield.
Burial services will be officiated by Brother Kenneth Leach of BeulahBaptist Church of Many. Burial will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Mt.Carmel.
Mrs. Oxley was preceded in death by two brothers and six sisters; oneson, Edward Oxley Jr.; one daughter, Emma Marie Oxley Wren; andson-in-law, Jack Wren; one grandson, Edwin James Oxley; two greatgrandsons, Shawn Oxley, and Lawrence DeWayne Moore.
She is survived by two sons, Raymond H. Oxley and wife Stephanie ofLetha, Idaho, and Truman L. Oxley and wife Bet of Many; one daughter,Jennie Oxley Feazel; and special son-in-law, H. W.
Feazel of Coushatta; there were five generations of family. There areseventeen grandchildren; thirty five great grandchildren; and fivegreat-great grandchildren; two sisters, Eula Mae Alford, and PearlPatrick, both of Many; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The nephews will serve as the pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will beBobby Chance, Gerald Patrick, and her doctor, Dr. Wayne Coleman
