      James R. STewart, 96, of Shreveport died March 22 in Shreveport, after anextended illness.

      Surviving relatives include his wife, Mrs. Florence Worsham Stewart ofShreveport; a daughter, Mrs. Euna Belle Mobley of Robeline; fourbrothers, Cleveland, Clarence, and Claude, and Raleigh Stewart, all ofSabine Parish; a sister, Mrs. Mora Thaxton of Sabine Parish; sevengrandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

      Stewart was a retired farmer, and for many years his farm was designed amodel farm by the state because of outstanding crops. He was active inthe Baptist Church for 75 years, and was a member of
      Lakeshore Baptist Church of Shreveport.

      Funeral services were held in Mt. Carmel Baptist Church March 24, withDr. Ira Peek and the Rev. O. S. Roberts officiating. Burial was in Mt.Carmel Cemetery under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home ofMany.
