      Robert Matthews, 77, of Robeline, died Sunday, May 26, in Natchitoches,after a short illness.

      Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 28, in the FriendshipChurch of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Clarence Patton officiating,assisted by the Rev. Winston Lowe. Burial was in Friendship Cemetery,under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home.

      Survivors are his widow; three sons, Evel Matthews of Robeline, RobertMatthews of Houston, Tex., and George Matthews of Natchitoches; sixdaughters, Mrs. Eura Powell of Robeline, Mrs. Lois Branton of Bossiercity, Mrs. Jo Dean of Mountain Home, Ark., Mrs. Margie Boudreaux ofNederland, Tex., Mrs. Martha Stewart of Houston, Tex., and Mrs. MarySantora of Bossier City; three brothers, I. W. Matthews of Oil City,Tommy Matthews of Hemphill, Tex., and J. R. Matthews of Robeline; threesisters, Mrs. Nettie Cutright of El Paso, Tex., Mrs. Ola Lemons of Many,and Mrs. Bessie Corley of Robeline; 37 grandchildren, and 34 greatgrandchildren.
