Funeral services for Monroe Skinner of Florien were held at the Mt.Carmel Baptist Church on Thursday, Sept. 24, at 3 p.m. The Rev. EarlMarr, and the Rev. Virgil Taylor officiated. Burial was in the Mt. CarmelCemetery, with his nephews serving as pallbearers.
Mr. Skinner died at 9:15 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Fraser HospitalNorth, following a short illness. He was 86, and had been a resident ofHeritage Manor Nursing Home.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Lola Skinner of Florien; two sons,Arlon Skinner of Converse, and John Amos Skinner of Shreveport; adaughter, Mrs. Lynelle Briley of Shreveport; one brother, the Rev. LouisSkinner of Clarence; seven sisters, Mrs. Cora Smith, Mrs. Exie Anderson,Mrs. Elta Wyatt, Mrs. Iberia
Mothershed, Mrs. Melva Curry, and Mrs. Bessie Weldon, all of Florien, andMrs. Pearlie Dupree of Mansfield; 8 grandchildren; and 8 greatgrandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A veteran of World War I, Mr. Skinner was a retired District Engineer ofthe Highway Commission.
