      Jessie Byrd, 86, of Vowells Mill, died Aug. 26, at 2:05 a.m., after ashort illness.

      Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 27, at 2 p.m., in the CedronBaptist Church, with the Rev. Luther Despino officiating. Burial was inthe Cedron Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Homeof Many.

      Surviving relatives are two sons, Herman Byrd of Columbia, LA, and HueyP. Byrd of Hughes Spring, Texas; four daughters, Mrs. Clara V. Rhodes ofGatesville, Tex., Mrs. Doris Bynog of Shreveport, Mrs. Glenda GaleTennison of Beaumont, Tex., and Mrs. Clovis Whitehead of Natchitoches;one brother, George Byrd of Vowells Mill; 23 grandchildren, and 15 greatgrandchildren.
