      Mrs. Bertha Byrd, 62, died in her home in Vowels Mill Monday, Feb. 28,after an extended illness.

      Survivors are her husband, T. J. Byrd of Vowels Mill; two sons, Huey P.Byrd of Vowels Mill, and Herman Byrd of Columbia; four daughters, ClaraRhodes of Gatesville, Tex., Doris Bynog of Shreveport, Clovis JeanWhitehead of Natchitoches, and Glendogayle Fenison of Beaumont, Tex.;three half brothers, C. D. Tynes of Seminole, Texas, James Tynes ofShreveport, and C. V. Tynes of Cypress; one sister, Bertie Butty ofOrange, Tex.; four half sisters, Mrs. Daniel Dees of Many, Mrs. VeraHoneycutt of
      Robeline, Mrs. Floyd Mitchell, and Mrs. Velma Pleasant, both ofNatchitoches; 22 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

      Services were held in the New Cedran Baptist Church, Tuesday, March 1, at2:30 a.m., with the Bro. A. P. Murphy of Alexandria, and Bro. DonMcCormick of Alexandria, officiating. Burial was in the Cedran Cemetery,under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home of Many
