      Joseph W. Byrd, Sabine Parish, Sabine Index, Many, La., May 25, 1978

      Joseph W. Byrd, 85, of Many, died in Many Hospital on Wednesday, May 17,at 5:30 a.m., following an extended illness.

      Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ada M. McMillan Byrd of Many; threesons, M. V. Byrd of Many, and C. W. Byrd of Murphysburg, West Virginia;five sisters, Mrs. Rollie Patrick, Mrs. E. C. Ross, and Mrs. FloydAlford, all of Many. Mrs. Ruth Enis of Bossier City, and Mrs. Emma Oxleyof Shreveport; 7 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.

      Funeral services were held on Friday, May 19, at 3 p.m., in the Mt.Carmel Baptist Church. The Rev. Earl Marr, and the Rev. Truman Leachofficiated. Burial was in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery, under the direction ofthe Warren Meadows Funeral Home.
