  Data submitted by Keith Alan Montgomery, CMS 2512, via GEDCOM attached to email dated 16 Jan 2007. Alexander arrived in the US in 1854 and lived in Linn county, Iowa for some time. arriving in Sullivan 1857. He was a merchant in Milan opening a tin shop in 1858 which expanded into a dry goods store known as A.S. McDuff and Co. He was also a large land owner in Sullian County by 1877 having a large portion of land just west of Milan as well as having one of the Milan Additions named for him. Sullivan County Death Record: McDuff, Alexander Stevenson, b. Johnston, Renfrewshire, Scotland May 12, 1837; came to Milan 1857; m. Mary Montgomery; d. Oct 22, 1901. Surviving are his wife and children: Allen, Belle (Mrs. Geo. Collins)Mae, Maude, and Ralph.
