• Notes

  John Montgomery's wives are confusing. No one is certain of the order. The Wilmot family line shows Mary Wilmot as his first wife. He was certainly old enough to have been married previously to Harriet (Stevens) Reid and to have had a son Frederick Myers. In U.E. records his wife Harriet Isabelle Reidhad a son, Frederick Myers Montgomery had descendent who belong to U.E.Toronto Branch. This must be wife known also as Harriet Stevens. Age for her son is 1852, so not possible that Harriet Stevens Reid was John's first wife, had to be his third. No children have been shown for marriage to Elizabeth Lewis.
