Notes - In the 1770's Colonel William Edmondson and several of his sons answeredthe
call for volunteers at King's Mountain. Three sons were killed and onewounded
in this battle, which Historians call the turning point of theRevoluntionary
War. Colonel Edmondson received 2000 acres in Washington County, VA, forhis
service in the French and Indian War. Fincastle County records mentionthe
location of the 2000 acres as being on the Holston River. -from Isla
