      " A pioneer of Clan Montgomery Society passed away September 18, 2005, CMSI member # 669, Roy Dennis Montgomery, of Blacksburg, Virginia, had been the Recording Genealogist for CMSI for many years before illness forced his retirement. The following obituary appeared in the Roanoke Times:
      Roy Dennis Montgomery, 59, of Blacksburg, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 18, 2005. Born June 8, 1946 in the Sunnyside Community of Montgomery County to Lucinda Long Montgomery and the late Barney Graham Montgomery, he was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Norma Jean Thompson Montgomery. Roy worked in Hop In Stores for numerous years. Then he went to work for Virginia Tech for 20 plus years retiring from there in 1993. Roy was very active in his genealogy, friends and his faith in God. Roy was a member of the Clan Montgomery Society and was recording genealogist for numerous years. Left to cherish his memory are his loving daughter, Mistie Dawn Montgomery and fiance' Chris Merriman, both of Vinton; his mother Lucinda Long Montgomery of Blacksburg; his mother-in-law Norma Smith Thompson of Blacksburg; sister and brother-in-law Louise and Don Saville of Blacksburg; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert W. and Albertine Faye Montgomery of Shawsville; Curtis A. and Judy Moyer Montgomery of Lexington, SC and Archie F. and Nina Mebel Montgomery of Blacksburg; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends Joseph and Robbie Jones of Blacksburg, and Steve Taylor of Roanoke; special uncles and aunts, Ralph and Mabel Long, Ira and Louise Long, and Hubert Long, all of Blacksburg; foster sister-in-law Hope AbuQuattan of Roanoke; and foster brother-in-law Ralph Alls and family of Blacksburg. Funeral services were held September 22 and burial followed in the Montgomery section of the Zack Price/James R. Long Memorial Cemetery. The Rev. Jimmy Price officiated at the services."
