Notes - Tennessee land grant dated 1855, signed by Andrew Johnson, Governor of Tennessee, later President of U>S>, gives title to 288 acres of land to John Montgomery, family and/or heirs. One boundry of the grant was that of the Indian Boundry line. His grandchildren could remember Indians walking through the property with children and supplies. The home site contains the "Montgomery Elm", believed to be the largest elm in the world. The property is in an area planned as a public park.
