  Served in the War of 1812. At the time of his death, he owned a total of 350.5 acres of land in Franklin County. He lived on 106.5 acres of good land on Boiling Fork Creek, located near Cowan. Anderson et.al. states that Goodspeed's History published in 1887 confuses the record of two families, and lists three children to the first marriage. However Goodspeed and Erick Montgomery's carefully researched records show one child to the first family. Four children(two are the same listed by Anderson). are listed in a second marriage.
