    • "John and Esther Houston Montgomery - 1738" by Anderson et.al. has this name as James Chester Montgomery who married Nancy Cowan and had nine children.
      This latter information is consistant between Goodspeed and Anderson, et.al.

      Lived on the same land farmed by his grandfather, Hugh Montgomery, and acquired other land. He was a "well to do" farmer at Cowan and was at different times Constaable of the Tenth District, a school teacher, and a Justice of the Peace.

      Last Will and Testament, dated 14 June, 1902, Franklin County, TN, Roll 98, pgs 537-538, certified copy in collection od Elizabeth Looney, Washington. DC and Mrs. J. R. Brock, Cowan, TN 37318.
