    • DEAT CAUS Complications from prostate cancer.

      DSCR 5'10"; 180lbs. in 1967.

      !DEATH: See death certificate. Age at death: 72 yr, 6 mo, 21 d. Cause of death: death certificate lists carcinoma. Started with prostate cancer discovered about 1962, which spread into bone marrow and then throughout his body in spite of surgery and radiation treatments.

      !PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

      Height: 5ft 9in. Adult Weight: abt 150 pounds until he began taking cortisone

      as part of cancer treatment, then weight increased to around 180 pounds. Eyes: pale blue. Hair: Light brown. Personality: Quiet, not outgoing. Very tolerant and patient. Had a positive, happy disposition and liked to laugh. Very much like his father according to people who knew them both. A leader by example. Did not drink wine or liquor, but did drink beer occasionally. Smoked all his life, pipe, cigars, & unfiltered cigarettes including "roll your own". Physical problems: Was color-blind. Had excema on his left thigh. Had chronic problems with lower back pain; often wore a broad (8-10") leather belt for support, especially when riding the tractor or shoveling grain. Had a tendency toward hemophilia in later life, bruising easily and bleeding a lot when injured. Had a rare blood type, A negative.
