  Frederick Moore Fulkerson married Sarah Ridgeway in 1831 in Missouri. According to family legend Frederick was a large man with a sense of humor and a hot temper. The jokes that his boys played would have ignited most tempers. Before the Civil War he owned slaves but feeling that slavery was wrong he freed them. His older sons fought in the war on the Union side. After the war he was appointed a judge for several years. ( per Laila Thompson )
