  From Biographical Notes, page 117 City of Toronto the following as to wife of Alexander Montgomery (son of Richard Montgomery) (on page 116) "In 1866, he married Mary Anne, daughter of Joseph Peelar. The Peelars are U.E. Loyalists and settled west of Hooton in 1800. Mary Anne Hooton, great grandmother of Mrs. Montgomery was drowned while crossing that river on horseback. Mrs. Montgomery's grandmother lived to be eighty-four years of age. She had a narrow escape during the Battle of York in 1812, being nearly shot as she was crossing the street."
