- I suggest a possibility that Thomas Montgomery who came into Toronto area around 1825 and built the Montgomery Tavern which still stands on the west side could be a son of John Montgomery and a nephew of Alexander Montgomery Jr. We do know that he emigrated from the United States. If he was born to a John Montgomery in or around 1783, we can search further to learn if their is any connection.
If this should turn out to be a fact, then we do know that his wife and children's names are on record at the Montgomery Tavern. Upon a visit there in 1978, I was given their names which did not match any of those that I knew. I believe it is worth investigating possible connection.
