LAND PURCHASE, SE 1/4 of Sec. 22, T.6 N., R.8 W. LA Mer. Containing159.30 acres. On 10/28/1902 William A. Montgomery completes a Homestead Application forthe above reference land paying $17.96 in filing fees. On 8/30/1904notice is published of his intent to file final proof of the claim. Thefollowing are named as witnesses to prove his continuous residence uponand cultivation of the land. G. C. Parker, Bellwood, William R. Boswell,Petty Pool Massey and R. C. Boswell of Lotus. His affidavit claims thathe settled on the land on 1/5/1903 and has cultivated 8 acres. It alsostates that he is 42 years old at the time and a native born inLouisiana. On the land he has built a house, kitchen, crib and smokehouse with an estimated value of $400. On 8/30/1904 he makes payment of$398.25 or $2.50 per acre to purchase the land.
